Harry H. Rogers, San Antonio and Tulsa businessman and one of the founding investors of Three Rivers Glass
San Antonio and Tulsa businessman; one of the founding investors covering the Three Rivers Glass Company’s initial $50,000 capital in 1922. Tips later described him as one of two “multimillionaires” who backed the company, alongside W. L. Moody III.
Named among the 1922 founding investors. Tips’ memoir explains how they knew each other: Rogers was the man “with whom I was associated in the Joint Stock Land Bank business” [ev-0075]. After leaving the Dallas Joint Stock Land Bank, Tips went in “with Mr. Harry H. Rogers, with the Chapman family of Waxahachie, and with the Exchange National Bank of Tulsa, Oklahoma, to form the Texas-Oklahoma Joint Stock Land Bank,” of which Tips “served as president during its entire existence” [ev-0075]. That partnership accounts for the “San Antonio and Tulsa” tag attached to Rogers in the earlier sources — Tulsa is where their joint banking venture was capitalized.
In his October 11, 1971 letter, Tips separately describes getting “2 men who were multimillionaires to back us. One was Mr. Harry H. Rogers of San Antonio, the other was Mr. W. L. Moody, III.” [ev-0041]
